My Teaching Philosophy
My goal, as a teacher, is to make sure my students come out of each lesson sounding better than when they walked in. Through a critical-thinking based approach to learning, my students not only grow as violinists, but also find excitement in learning and confidence in their capabilities.
I believe that any problem can be solved if it is identified and solutions are readily available. I employ strategies that draw the students' attention to the issues in their playing and together we work to understand the solutions. Before long, my students are able to problem solve for themselves while practicing at home.
Additionally, I believe it is imperative for a student's needs and concerns to be addressed with respect and patience. In order for learning to take place, there must be trust between a student and teacher. I strive to build that with all students that walk into my studio.
